Welcome

It’s a great privilege to be a psychotherapist. It’s sometimes hard to believe that I have been doing this work for more than thirty years.

I’ve walked with many people through the crucible of life’s crises and difficulties.

Depth psychology holds my fascination and passion. I’ve been well trained in modern psychoanalytic theory and practice, and I’ve been a life-long student of Freud, Klein, and Jung. Philosophy, theology, and literature also inform my understanding of the complexities of human struggle and conflict.

Decades of therapeutic work convince me that folks fare best and get the most out of therapy when they take the time, and muster the courage to face themselves in depth, to own and experience their own thoughts, feelings, and desires. Finding a more authentic voice opens possibilities for growth and change.

Often the trouble, the symptom, the crisis that makes one look for help, carries the potential for needed change and growth. When the inner life is given the intense attention its complexity demands, self understanding comes. Then things are sorted out and decisions made with new integrity, confidence, and wisdom. Most often the only real way “out” is “through”.

I offer psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults and adolescents, and therapy for couples and families in conflict. I’m experienced in psychotherapy supervision and offer consultation to therapist interested in psychoanalytic work.
